Birthday Gift – Gourmet Fruit and Flower Baskets

Expert AuthorBirthday gifts can run the gamut, but a birthday gift of a gourmet fruit or flower basket is popular – and always appreciated.

A birthday gift of a gourmet fruit or flower basket doesn’t care about size. You don’t have to worry about whether the color is right for the recipient. You don’t even have to remember to buy batteries to go with it.

A birthday gift of a gourmet fruit or flower basket can meet most gift budgets.

Birthday Gift Gourmet Fruit Baskets

Gourmet fruit baskets may be as simple as a basket put together by your local grocery supermarket. Or you could buy an inexpensive basket at craft or discount store, fill it with polished fruit, and wrap it in cellophane and a bow. You might also order a gourmet fruit basket from a gift store.

Contents of Birthday Gift Gourmet Fruit Baskets

There are similarities with every birthday gift basket. If you make your own, you can copy what the professionals do.

* Basket: A birthday gift gourmet fruit basket may come in a wicker basket, or it may arrive in a keepsake box. Either way, it is called a gourmet fruit basket.

* Fresh Fruit: You will probably not have a choice of fruit. Seasonal fruits are most likely. Apples and pears are usually included. These ship well, and are most likely to arrive in good condition. A navel orange may be added for color. Larger birthday gifts may include more exotic fruits like kiwi fruit or kumquats.

* Dried Fruit: Your birthday gift gourmet fruit basket may also contain dried fruit. Dried apple or banana slices, sweet dates, and other dried fruit selections are common.

* Fruit candy: Hard fruit candy, or fruit-filled chocolate candy may be included in your birthday gift.

* Cookies: A package of shortbread or tea cookies is a nice addition to a birthday gift gourmet fruit basket.

* Crackers: A package of gourmet crackers is another addition that goes well with fruit in your birthday gift.

* Cheese: Gourmet cheese is also featured in gourmet fruit baskets.

Birthday Gift Flower Baskets

As with fruit baskets, you could assemble your own flower basket. An inexpensive wicker basket can be lined with an inexpensive plastic container, soil, and flowering, living plants. Moss on top of the soil is a professional touch. It will also hold moisture for the plants. If you prefer cut flowers for your birthday gift, get a taller basket with a nice handle. Add an inexpensive liner, arrange a bouquet, and tie a ribbon on the handle.

Local florists do a good job with birthday gift flower baskets.
